Honoring Jack
Through the enormous generosity of Jack’s friends, neighbors, coaches, teammates and family members, several tributes to Jack now stand in many of the special places in his life. While we hope they’ll offer those who were close to Jack the opportunity to continue connecting with him, we also hope they reflect the remarkable breadth of Jack’s influence and impact, and serve as a reminder to continue that legacy.
Jack Langerman Way
Jack’s incredibly thoughtful neighbors undertook the herculean task of re-naming a neighborhood walkway in Jack’s honor, and coinciding with what would have been Jack’s 26th birthday unveiled a street sign and plaque to officially dedicate what is now known as Jack Langerman Way.
Jack Langerman Way connects Jack’s Deerfield neighborhood to Seven Locks Elementary School, two places that played an outsized and defining role in his life story, and that will be supported for years to come by the Jack Langerman Community Foundation.
The idea that Jack will forever link these two transformative communities together – both literally and figuratively – is a perfect representation of the Foundation’s aspirations.
Known and Loved Bracelets
Kevin Woodring, one of Jack’s best Middlebury friends, and Derek Altobello, one of Jack’s best hometown friends, collaborated to create “Known and Loved” bracelets to identify all those wearing them as members of Jack’s wide circle of friends, and to serve as a reminder of how Jack always made others feel.
Jack Langerman Award
Inaugurated in 2023 by Coach Pat Skellchock, the Jack Langerman Award will be given annually to the Churchill High School baseball player who most embodies Jack’s positive character and welcoming presence, both on and off the field.
2023 Winner: Ryan Weiner
Jack’s Tree
A young oak tree was planted on the Middlebury College campus in October 2021, where it now stands watch over the western sunsets and Adirondack Mountains.
Middlebury Baseball Locker Room
Created and written by several of Jack’s Middlebury teammates, this plaque hangs in the Middlebury Baseball locker room to inspire future generations of Panther ballplayers.
Churchill Baseball Dugout
The home baseball dugout at Churchill High School was dedicated in Jack’s honor in November of 2021, and this plaque has a direct line of sight to First Base, Jack’s home away from home for four years.
Jack's Garden
In November of 2021 a garden in Jack’s honor was planted at the front of Churchill High School, where each spring daffodils will greet Churchill students with their sunny blossoms (and, of course, usher in a new baseball season!)
Gillette Stadium
On what would have been Jack’s 25th birthday, the Gillette Stadium scoreboard paid tribute to the biggest Patriots fan ever raised in the state of Maryland. Fittingly, Jack’s Patriots put a 45-7 beatdown on his second-favorite team, the Cleveland Browns.
