How Others Are Helping
They say it takes a village, and the Jack Langerman Community Foundation is no different. Countless friends and family members have worked overtime to build the Foundation, and the Foundation simply wouldn’t exist without their time, help and generosity. In addition, many have helped expand the Foundation’s fundraising and reach by starting or participating in a number of ancillary initiatives.
We’re always interested in learning about other great ways in which people would like to help – please let us know about them here.
Known and Loved Beer Collaborations
As a child, Jack was subjected to countless brewery visits, beer festivals and beercations in pursuit of his father’s passion for craft beer (in fairness, his parents founded a brewery-restaurant the year before Jack was born). As an adult, Jack adopted the passion as one of his own - his beer can collection ultimately became the pride of Cooper Street - so we thought it only fitting to develop a beer in Jack’s honor in each of the places that were important to him.
Thanks to the efforts of a group of close friends, Known and Loved was thus born at a brewery in suburban Maryland, to be followed by editions in Ohio (Jack’s mom’s homestate where Jack spent every Christmas of his childhood), Connecticut (where Jack spent time each summer) and Washington, DC. Hopefully additional editions of Known and Loved will be hitting the taps in the years ahead - keep watching this space for more details.
Jack’s Wildcats
Inspired by Jack’s tutoring of elementary school children when he was in high school, some of Jack’s neighbors and friends launched a club at Churchill High School (Jack’s high school alma mater) that provides classroom tutoring to students at Seven Locks Elementary School (Jack’s elementary school alma mater). By the end of the ‘22 - ’23 academic year, Jack’s Wildcats had become the single-largest student-run organization at Churchill!
